Baptism

"Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua), and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism, we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church, and made sharers in her mission: ‘Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word.’"

Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1213

Baptism is the first sacrament of initiation into the Catholic faith. Through the waters of Baptism, we are cleansed of original sin, become members of the Body of Christ, and are welcomed into the Church family.

At St. Joseph Catholic Church, we are honored to walk with you as you prepare for this important step in your faith journey, whether you're presenting your child for Baptism or seeking Baptism as an adult.

Baptism for Infants and Young Children

We welcome families seeking Baptism for their child with open arms. Preparation for infant and young child Baptism consists of one meeting to help parents understand the meaning of the sacrament and their role in raising their child in the faith.

Baptisms are typically scheduled after weekend Masses.

To begin the process, please fill out the Baptism Inquiry Form or call the Parish Office, and someone from our parish staff will be in touch.

Baptism for Adults

Adults seeking Baptism, or adults baptized in another Christian tradition who wish to enter the Catholic Church, are invited to begin the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA).

This process includes learning about the Catholic faith, participating in community life, and preparing to receive the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist).
